In 2026, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) celebrated its 130th anniversary, welcoming alumni from around the world back to its Minhang campus. The anniversary coincided with the peak shedding season of the campus camphor trees. While the golden leaves added a poetic touch, they also placed immense pressure on cleaning services. Rising to the challenge, the Oubaoshang sanitation team worked around the clock with a deep sense of responsibility and professionalism, successfully completing comprehensive sanitation tasks and providing a clean, welcoming environment for the celebration.
The cleanup effort covered four core areas: campus buildings, student cafeterias, garbage stations, and campus roads. The team managed the entire sanitation chain, including daily waste collection, specialized food waste transport, public area sweeping, and leaf removal. To tackle the falling leaves, mechanical sweepers worked alongside manual sweepers to ensure roads were kept clear and spotless.
The transport of food waste from cafeterias was the most demanding part of the operation due to the heavy workload, strong odours, and tight schedules. Without a single complaint, the sanitation staff cleared the waste on a strict schedule, ensuring immediate removal as soon as bins were full. In campus buildings and garbage stations, the team conducted frequent inspections and cleanings alongside strict disinfection and deodorization to maintain a healthy environment. Main roads, squares, and activity zones were patrolled at higher frequencies.
As the 130th anniversary concluded, the clean campus left a warm impression on everyone. The Oubaoshang sanitation team delivered on their commitments through hard work and dedication, providing solid environmental support for SJTU's milestone.
