CNTY Partnered with a Chiang Mai Private Company on a WtE Project in Thailand
2024-11-21

Chiang Mai, situated in northern Thailand, is the largest city in the region and the second largest in the country after Bangkok, generating approximately 2,000 to 2,500 tons of waste daily. The waste treatment in Chiang Mai primarily relies on traditional landfills, which are now operating beyond their capacity. The local government is actively seeking to introduce advanced waste treatment technologies to address the escalating waste volumes.

Recently, CNTY CEO Cao Debiao led a delegation to meet with Mr. Tosapol Phuanudom, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, at the Chiang Mai Provincial Government. During this meeting, CEO Cao outlined CNTY's investment plans for constructing a waste-to-energy (WtE) project in Chom Thong, Chiang Mai Province. This project is designed to process between 500 to 650 tons of waste per day, with a construction period estimated at approximately two years. CNTY will partner with Chiang Mai Seven Sun Company to jointly invest in this endeavor, while assuming full responsibility for the EPC of the project. CEO Cao emphasized that CNTY, as a global leader in environmental protection and renewable energy, possesses extensive experience in the investment, construction, and operation of WtE projects both domestically and internationally. The Company intends to replicate its proven strategies in Thailand, particularly in Chiang Mai, with the goal of establishing an eco-friendly, garden-style WtE plant in Chom Thong. Thailand's highest peak, Mount Inthanon, is nestled in Chiang Mai; this province is poised to host the nation's highest standard WtE facility. CNTY is confident that in partnership with Seven Sun, this project will emerge as a new landmark for Chiang Mai.

Deputy Governor Tosapol warmly welcomed CEO Cao Debiao and his delegation, and expressed gratitude to CNTY for choosing to invest in Chiang Mai. After a prior on-site visit to CNTY, Tosapol commended the achievements the Company has made in the field of WtE power generation. He conveyed his hopes for a fruitful partnership between CNTY and Seven Sun, aiming to swiftly establish the first WtE plant in Chiang Mai. This endeavor will greatly alleviate local waste treatment issues, ultimately improving the living environment for residents in the region.
